Hush Maderas is a boutique eco-hotel located on a headland with breathtaking ocean views. A 10 minute walk down a jungle path and you’ll arrive on the soft sands of the beautiful Playa Maderas. Look into the canopies for a chance at spotting the friendly howler monkey neighbours. Playa Maderas is famous for its consistent surf and it’s connected to two other beaches and is perfect for long beach walks.
Getting here
If you’re flying in; then either Managua (Nicaragua) or Liberia (Costa Rica) are the closest airports. Managua airport is about a 4 hour drive from Playa Maderas, while Liberia is a bit over 2 hours, but also includes a border crossing.

Hush Maderas is just 15 minutes from San Juan Del Sur, where shuttles run directly from Casa Oro to Hush several times a day. It’s $5 per person one way and $7 return.
If you’re getting here by rental car, it’s recommended to rent a 4×4. The last 5 kilometres to Playa Maderas are dirt roads and in rainy season it can be harder to access with a smaller car. The last 100 meters to Hush are up hill.
From San Juan and Rivas, follow the “chocolata” road and the signposts towards Playa Maderas. Once you pass Selina hostel, take the hill on the left. At the top, take a right turn and follow the road until you come to a large brick building. Please use the parking spaces provided and take the stairs up to the restaurant and pool area where our staff will be ready to help you.
